Reference Images – Roman Shades
Flat Roman Shade
Flat Roman Shades are entirely flat when lowered. When raised, the rings in the back of the shade gather the material together in folds that stack at the top of the window.

Casual (Unconstructed) Roman
The Casual Roman shade has a signature curve or smile at the bottom of the shade.
This is not a shade to operate all the time. Folds will change each time it’s operated.

Slatted (Ribbed) Roman Shade
Slatted Roman Shades have ribs (also called battens or tunnels) that appear at the front or the back of
the shade that add some visual interest, particularly to solid color romans.
This style has more structure when raised. Recommended Lines, Unlined or Interlined.

Manual Roman Shade - Chain Loop

Soft Pleated Roman
The Soft Pleated Roman Shade is constructed with uniform folds that accentuate a cascade effect.
When fully extended, the shade retains soft folds or “loops” for a more traditional look.

London (Modified Balloon) Roman
London Romans feature inverted pleats and soft gathered folds at the bottom of the shade. This will droop more in the center than on the sides depending on the fabric. No lift cords at the sides, only at the pleats. More for a fixed treatment than an operable shade.

Tailored Balloon Roman
Balloons are fabric shades gathered at the top header in a variety of ways and where poufs are
created on the bottom when lifted. Inverted pleats where the cords are. Pleats and cords are at the end to make the end lift up. The Designer will determine the width of the balloons and the number of balloons. The type of fabric needs to be brought to the workroom to see if the desired design is possible. Balloon Shades get their fullness from the width of the shade.

Shirred Balloon Roman
Balloons are fabric shades, gathered at the top header in a variety of ways and where poufs are created on the bottom when lifted. Shirred Balloon Shades have gathered headers in a variety of finishes according to your specifications. Among them are: shirred with welting, shirred with ruffle header, continental shirred, smocked etc. The fullness is spread out across the width of the shade instead of being concentrated where the pleats are.

Shirred Balloon with Tails
Same as the shirred ballon except the last lift cord is done further in from the ends to add tails.

Austrian Roman
Austrian Roman Shade feature softly shirred panels to give a heavily gathered appearance. Works best with soft, pliable fabrics, however consider wrinkling when selecting fabrics.
